If you’ve ever picked up park litter and wondered why you also have to pick up the slack, this summit is for you.
Friends to the Front: Advancing Houston’s Parks and Public Spaces is the first summit for Houston’s grassroots friends groups, nonprofits, and community-based organizations working to make our public spaces better. We’re bringing together the people who organize cleanups, chase down work orders, advocate for shade, and somehow become their neighborhood’s unofficial Department of Everything.
Calling all park friends groups, trail stewards, conservancies, civic clubs, super neighborhoods, and environmental justice advocates: your persistence deserves partners, resources, and a bigger seat at the table.
Join us to learn how to navigate City Hall, build partnerships, raise funds, tell your story, and move a park project from “great idea” to groundbreaking. You’ll meet people tackling the same challenges and help shape a shared parks advocacy agenda. Funders, public agency staff, students, and researchers, we need you in this conversation, too.
